Laser Hair Removal
Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, women and men who are tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair on the face, back, legs or other body areas may welcome laser hair removal with relief.
Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light. Dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface absorb this light and convert it to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years.
Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band.
It is possible that some hair will grow back, though it is usually finer and lighter than what was originally removed. There may also be some redness and swelling following the procedure.
Dr. Manjarrez-Cortez uses two types of lasers, GentleYAG® from CANDELA and LIGHTSHEER DUET depending on the skin type.
GentleLASE® by Candela provides fast, safe and effective laser hair removal for patients of all skin types. In addition to hair removal, it can also treat razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae) and ingrown hairs. The advanced alexandrite laser system precisely targets areas of hair growth and delivers narrow-wavelength light to the hair follicles while the surrounding tissue remains untouched. A patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD™) keeps the skin comfortably cool during and after treatment, soothing and protecting as the laser energy heats the follicles to reduce hair growth. GentleLASE’s DCD and large spot size mean faster treatment times than ever before.
GentleLASE is not only an excellent solution for laser hair removal; it is also highly effective for the reduction of vascular lesions (including sun damage, age spots, freckles, melasma and seborrheic keratoses), pigmented lesions (including hemangiomas and facial and leg veins) and wrinkles. Its versatility, safety and effectiveness make it one of the most popular lasers used today.
